Ivanpah/Roach Dry Lakes

If you've not been to Ivanpah or Roach Dry Lake before you're in for a real treat with plenty of room to buggy and play, with the nearby casinos and _great_ food and drink for the evenings..

The lake beds and casinos are located on I-15 at Primm, Nevada on the state line border of California/Nevada, about 40 miles south of Las Vegas..

Here's a map that I shamelessly snarfed from the NALSA (North American Land Sailing Association) Newsletter to give you some idea of how to find the lake beds if you're new to the area..

Be aware that access to Ivanpah is restricted to BLM permit holders or by invitation from a permit holder already on the lakebed.. The lakebed itself is restricted to use by wind powered craft ONLY with the exception of the access road and parking area marked off by flat brown fiberglass poles, and the terrain surrounding the lake bed is off limits to all vehicles.. You can obtain a BLM permit from BLM or:

The lake bed at Roach has no such restrictions, to the best of my knowledge..

Some other lakebeds in the area are worth a look..

Eldorado is on Hwy 95 just south of Boulder City. Easy access.

Jean Dry Lake is about 3-4 miles north of Jean, Nevada. It is entered off the old road that parallels I-15. Nice wide gravel road all the way onto the lakebed.

I have made contact with NALSA and received permission for the use of their map.
